BHC specializes in both custom homes and renovations that stand the test of time. From vision planning, custom cabinetry coordination, to furniture selections and home staging, Beth is your partner and “eyes and ears” from first sketch to finishing touch.

Our Process

  • A meeting, a conversation, a visit to an existing home, some shared inspiration photos, and whatever it takes to get to know the client and the project.

  • The goal is to be on board at the very start of a new home. BHC gets involved with the client and the architect to plan the house together.

  • There may be some art or special furniture pieces that need to be planned into the home. We will inventory and plan these into the new home.

  • Beth meets with client and the General Contractor to review the schedule, list of subcontractors and plan the design process accordingly.

  • BHC begins designs by each room in the house. Elevations, plans, and material boards for each area include cabinet design and finish, tile, wood, wallcovering, paint, plumbing fixtures, and decorative lighting.

  • BHC leads the cabinet layout and design. Depending on the GC’s preferred cabinet company, we will work closely with the client and the cabinet company on the designs for all the cabinetry in the house. Custom millwork designed by BHC might be by another Millwork contractor that the GC uses. We will coordinate with them.

  • BHC refines all design boards after meeting with the client. Any other special designed areas like fireplaces, paneling details, built-ins, etc. will be designed at this time.

  • Final specifications for all the materials, tile, countertops, wood floors, carpet, wallcovering, decorative lighting, painted finishes, and any special materials will be put together for use by the team. Lighting plans locating general lighting and all decorative lighting will be prepared.

  • BHC will do the electrical walk-throughs with the electrician and the client for all switch locations, decorative lighting, general lighting, emergency lighting, built-in accent lighting, emergency lighting, et. We will do the same for all the plumbing fixtures with the plumber.

  • BHC will coordinate with the client and the Audio Visual Design Company on TV’s locations and integration into the spaces they will be installed including speaker locations and any special details above fireplaces. Motorized shades and other special features will also be coordinated together.

  • BHC gets involved in outdoor landscape plans with the client and the designated landscape company. Exterior landscape materials, plant material review, lighting, pool design, spa design, pergola design, and outdoor grill design can be some of the areas we are involved with.

  • BHC is on-site on a regular basis meeting with contractors to cover all the details that are needed in a custom home. We are a good bridge for the client to make sure that we are their eyes and ears on the job site when they are not in town.

    This is ongoing until the project is completed.

  • BHC does all the furniture for some of our projects including rugs and window treatments. We do design boards and plans by room.

  • A plan for art and accessories is put together and then we shop and sometimes create boards for certain areas of the home.
